Steamboat Springs cabin rentals
The perfect stay in Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Think of perfect mountain scenes, deep powder snow, and elegant ski lodges and you have Steamboat Springs. Sitting in the upper valley of the Yampa River and dominated by the towering Mount Werner, this is one of Colorado’s premier mountain resorts. What’s more, you’ll find an array of charming cabins and chalet rentals in Steamboat Springs and the surrounding area, with mountain views, fireside corners, generous living spaces, and hot tubs made for unwinding after a day on the slopes - the perfect hideaway for a cozy mountain break.
Once home to gold and silver prospectors, Steamboat Springs gets its name from the sound of the rushing river as heard by the miners as they burrowed into the hillsides in search of gold. Steamboat Springs also sits on some active geological features; in fact, one of ‘The Boat’s’ biggest attractions is its hot springs, which are renowned to have therapeutic properties.
During the winter months, it’s home to some of the most challenging black and diamond ski runs in the country, as well as safe beginner slopes for those who are new to the joys of skiing and snowboarding. When spring drives the snow away, the valley blooms and the hiking and mountain biking trails open up. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Rockies and with every amenity you’ve ever dreamed of, Steamboat Springs’ luxury rentals make this a welcoming destination all year round.

HOW TO GET THERE
Make the journey as memorable as the arrival. Your dedicated concierge can arrange transportation from the closest airport to your Steamboat Springs chalet.
- By plane Yampa Valley Regional Airport is only 22 miles from Steamboat Springs and is a busy hub for the area even in the winter. Denver Airport is also around three hours away and there are plenty of bus and shuttle services available.
- By car The most direct route from Denver to Steamboat Springs is the I-70 west to Silverthorne, with a diversion onto Highway 9 North and joining the US 40. During the winter, the drive over Rabbit Ears Pass can be treacherous. So if you’re staying at a chalet in Steamboat Springs it is essential to hire a 4x4 vehicle with winter tyres to make the trip safely.
WHEN TO BOOK
- The best time to book a trip to Steamboat depends on the kind of mountain escape you have in mind. For peak ski conditions, January and February are hard to beat, while March brings longer days, softer light, and a lively spring-skiing feel. If you’re planning a festive ski trip, it pays to book as early as possible - ideally by late summer or early fall, as Christmas and New Year are among the most sought-after weeks for mountain homes.
LOCAL TIPS
- Steamboat Springs offers a comprehensive system of free public transportation between most major attractions.
- The weather can change greatly from day to day, or even hour to hour in Steamboat Springs, so be sure to pack accordingly.
- The adjustment to the altitude of a ski town can sometimes be difficult, so plan to take it easy for the first day or two of your trip.
