Lake Como rental villas
The perfect stay in Lake Como, Italy
With a breath-taking mountain backdrop, ultra-chic villas and boutique shopping aplenty, Lake Como is the crown jewel of the Italian Lake District. With the towering peaks of the Alps reflected in the mirror-smooth waters, nature really has been generous to this gorgeous part of the world. Our villa rentals in Lake Como transport you to the heart of one of the most glamorous, beautiful and elegant places in Europe.
If you love your action movies, you’ll recognise Lake Como from several James Bond films. And indeed, the Italian Riviera is the perfect backdrop for a winding drive through the mountains in an open-top sports car, ending up at a casino on the shores of the lake as a waiter offers you a glass of champagne. Lake Como is all about extravagance, opulence, and a healthy dash of indulgence.
However, it also provides some of the best hiking and adventure trails in the whole of Lombardy too. The mountain scenery is mesmerising, and the town’s spas ensure that aching muscles are pampered at the end of a busy day. When it comes to refuelling, the local restaurants are excellent, serving up sumptuous seasonal dishes crafted with mouth-watering artisanal ingredients. Pair this with a fragrant glass of wine from a nearby winery and sit back and savour the sun setting over the lake - salute!
- Set off on an aquatic adventure, one of the best ways to experience Lake Como.
- Admire the stunning views with a trip on the Como-Brunate funicular.
- Visit Forte Di Fuentes, the picturesque ruins of a 17th-century fortress.

HOW TO GET THERE
Make the journey as memorable as the arrival. Your dedicated concierge can arrange transportation from the closest airport or train station to one of our Lake Como villas.
- By plane The easiest way to fly to northern Italy and the Italian Lake District is via Malpensa Airport in Milan. Your dedicated concierge can arrange for VIP transfers to take you to your rental villa in Lake Como, or for a hire car to be waiting for you when you land.
- By boat A fabulous way to arrive at your luxury Lake Como villa is by boat, and during the summer regular ferries and hydrofoils travel the length of the lake from Como to Colico. You can also hire a 40hp motorboat that does not require a licence to operate. Your dedicated concierge will be happy to arrange this for you in advance.
- By train Italy’s train service is superb, providing frequent and reliable transport all around the north of the country. A service runs along the eastern shore of the lake from Lecco to Varenna and Colico, and is a wonderful way to experience the beauty of Lake Como from a different perspective.
- By car Northern Italy is a driver’s paradise, with winding mountain roads, sweeping curves, and breathtaking views. Roads run along both shores of the lake and up into the surrounding countryside, through tiny villages and hamlets along the way. Give yourself plenty of time to explore the countryside. The fastest way to get to Lake Como from Milan is via the A9.
LOCAL TIPS
- Using the ferry at Lake Como is simple and easy. Arrive 30 minutes early and buy a ticket for the day there and then. The ferries take both cars and foot passengers.
- Lake Como is located in the foothills of the Swiss Alps, so the weather can be unpredictable (especially in the spring). Pack for all weather conditions, including warm clothes in case of cooler evenings.
- Lake Como is about 29 miles long by 2.5 miles wide at certain points. Keep this in mind when planning your trip in terms of what area/towns you’re wanting to explore. Getting from one side of the lake to the other is best done by boat taxi across the water.
