Introducing Tribeca
Like a humble hero elevated to great heights in a classic American movie, Tribeca has come a long way from its rough and tumble roots.
Once an urban wilderness of industrial warehouses, it has become the New York neighborhood of choice for America’s celebrities, entrenched as one of the country’s most expensive zip codes. In the 1960s and 1970s, artists such as renowned sculptor Richard Serra colonized the 'Triangle Below Canal Street', transforming former cotton and textile warehouses into vast, light-drenched lofts.
These days, Tribeca is filled with affluent finance and film industry types, whose every whim can be indulged in the thriving neighborhood.
A rich restaurant scene offers up every taste imaginable, from old favorites Nobu and Megu to artisanal food courts, Danish smørrebrød, and Macau-influenced tapas. The nightlife can take you back to the downtown scene of yore with a gritty dance club, but can also offer up an oenophile’s dream of a wine bar or a craft cocktail space straight out of hipster Brooklyn.
Family-friendly entertainment is likewise easily accessible, with the Hudson River Park offering up gorgeous river views as well as mini golf, beach volleyball, tennis, and even a skateboard park.
