Introducing Gramercy
As one of the most beautiful patches of New York City, Gramercy is a treasured piece of calm and refinement amongst the non-stop bustle of urban Manhattan.
The historic district is roughly bounded by East 14th and 22nd Streets between Park Avenue South and Third Avenue – a rich area (both culturally and in gross income) that’s peppered with beautiful townhouses, private members' clubs and Greek revival architecture.
At the heart of the neighborhood is the famous Gramercy Park: a gated, two-acre green space that is the be- and end-all in exclusivity. Access to the park is solely possible with a key (the 383 in circulation are only bestowed on those living in the park’s direct periphery), which unlocks any of the four gates surrounding it.
For those unfortunate enough to not live in the vicinity, the park and its beautiful contents, which includes ‘Janey Waney’, a large Alexander Calder statue on permanent loan, are visible from a pedestrian friendly perimeter, albeit through the wrought-iron gates.
There’s also the trellised rooftop terrace of the adjacent Gramercy Park Hotel, where visitors can partake in food and cocktails 17 storeys above the prestigious locale.
Ultimately, this residential area is a peek into what a certain slice of bourgeois living might have been in the past – and might be today.

Best known for
National Arts Club
Founded in 1898 by the New York Times theatre critic Charles DeKay, the Arts Club is armed with a noble mission to foster and promote public interest in the arts. The club’s stunning premises have also made it a coveted location for weddings and parties, though like the park, access is only granted via a member.
Maialino at the Gramercy Park Hotel
Highlights include a pistachio and nettle pesto trenette pasta, crispy suckling pig head and a tasting flight of olive oils to satisfy every gourmet’s needs.
