Clapham
Introducing Clapham
Peaceful parks and bustling boutiques – Clapham sits pretty, south of the Thames. Its high street is lined with some of London’s finest independent shops, bars and restaurants, and the adjoining Venn Street has an arthouse cinema, a vinyl record shop and fresh produce from the weekly farmers’ market. Clapham Common is a vast triangular park that’s been a favourite picnic spot for Londoners since the 18th century. Clapham is well-connected too – a train from Clapham Common Underground station will get you to Waterloo and central London in under 15 minutes. For trips further afield, Clapham Junction station offers easy access across the South East of England, getting you to the Brighton seaside in under an hour.

Best known for
Clapham Common
The 220-acre open space hosting events like Jamie Oliver and Alex James's Big Feastival at the end of August each year.
Clapham Picturehouse
Part of a group of cinemas that think a night at the movies should be more than a bucket of popcorn and a blockbuster – think DJ sets, a drink at the bar and subtitled French flicks.
The ‘man on the Clapham omnibus' is still used as a benchmark in English courts as to whether a party has acted in the way a reasonable person should.
